Mr. Norris is Chairman of Original Financial Group.
Mr. Norris was Co-founder of The Carlyle Group, a global private equity and investment firm with offices around the world. He was a Managing Director of Carlyle and served on the Boards of Directors of numerous Carlyle portfolio companies. Mr. Norris co-developed the Carlyle investment strategy along with Mr. David Rubenstein, and together they recruited the other Carlyle senior partners.
Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Norris was a Corporate Vice President of The Marriott Corporation, in Washington, DC where he was a strategist and advisor for the company’s public and private financing, acquisitions and limited partnerships. Mr. Norris was also head of the Marriott Tax department overseeing about 200 people.
Mr. Norris possesses substantial experience in financial strategy, providing strategic business advice to portfolio companies, and analysing and investing in public and private companies as well as having served on the board of directors of numerous companies. While at Carlyle, and thereafter, Mr. Norris has made, directed or participated in buyouts, venture or innovative capital investments, real estate (including hotels, office, multi-family, storage and warehousing) and private equity investments totalling more than US $10.0 billion, and yielding an average annual internal rate of return (IRR) well over 38%. Mr. Norris also served as a principal advisor to a prominent investor in connection with a number of strategic investments in major worldwide businesses that provided well over 15x in returns.
Mr. Norris has served as a financial advisor to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Morocco. Mr. Norris also advised a private equity Fund with investors from the Middle East investing in frontier markets with a principal focus in Africa.
Mr. Norris was appointed by US president Bush, and then confirmed by the U.S. Senate, to serve as one of five governing members of the Federal Retirement-Thrift Investment Board. Mr. Norris also served as law clerk on the US Tax Court.
Mr. Norris’s principal residence is in Palm Beach, Florida.
Prior to this, he served as the general manager and head of quantitative asset management for the fund management department of Citibank and JP Morgan Chase in Tokyo. Andrew graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the China Securities Investment Fund Association and is now a member of the Hong Kong Securities Institute.
